Sydney G. was born in Monterey, CA in 1995 and grew up traveling the globe as an 'Army brat'; raised, for the most part, in Stuttgart, Germany. She received her BA in 2017 from Gettysburg College in Studio Art, with a double minor in Sociology and Women Gender & Sexuality Studies and her MFA in Art & Technology Studies from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2022.
I’m an artist technologist, a time-traveling tinkerer using sculptural installations, object modification, instant film street photography, collage, robotics, & time-based media and technology as modes of transportation. Humans experience time in a linear, sequential manner; we continuously draw upon the past and imagine our future in order to formulate the present. My practice explores how objects transform into vessels for sentiment, emotion, and memory. Through this process, they become ‘charged’. Charged Objects are conduits, that can be harnessed to experience the simultaneity of time.
